Dr. Marian E. Kneer Showcases Professional Brand through Cambridge Who's Who
Dr. Marian E. Kneer has devoted her life to athletics and education
CHICAGO, IL, November 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Marian E. Kneer, Professor Emeritus and Director of the University of Illinois, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.
Dr. Kneer has 49 years of professional experience and was with the University of Illinois for 20 years. During her tenure, she was responsible for teaching continuing education in the physical education department, and preparing teachers as the graduate studies head. She also wrote curriculum and instructional techniques, and co-authored several books on physical education, including "Softball-Fast and Slow Pitch," which she wrote with Chuck McCord, a previous Hall of Fame Inductee. It is now its seventh edition. From 1949 to 1968, she worked as a teacher at East Peoria Community High School.
In the late 1940's, Dr. Kneer was known as the "world's greatest softball catcher." She was a tireless promoter of sports for girls in Illinois high schools, and was a co-founder and leader for permitting competitive interscholastic sports. She is a member of the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation & Dance, and the National Association for Sport & Physical Education, and has served in every elective position for the two affiliations and is a member of their Hall of Fame.
Dr. Kneer received his Doctorate in Physical Education in 1972 from the University of Michigan. She was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Illinois State University, as well as the Illinois Hall of Fame, and the Illinois Softball Hall of Fame.
