FORT COLLINS, CO, December 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Merhala Thurai, Senior Researcher at Colorado State University, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.

With 29 years of professional experience, Dr. Thurai attributes her success to the support she receives from her colleagues. As a senior researcher, she is responsible for directing student assistants in analysis and experimentation, ensuring that project objectives are being met, entering pertinent data and conducting experiments. She also reports to the National Science Foundation and NASA, disseminates information at conferences and in publications, and presents at the American Meteorological Society Conventions and its European counterpart.

Dr. Thurai is involved in research of the micro structure of rainfall which has implications for meteorological modeling and severe weather monitoring and now forecasting. She became involved in meteorology through a research project and became fascinated with the interdisciplinary aspect of the field.

In 1981, Dr. Thurai received a Ph.D. from Kings College. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. She has presented at the International Conference on Antennas Propagation in 1997.
