With more than five decades of practiced expertise in the field of nursing, Dorothy S. Crowder is a distinguished Associate Professor of Nursing at Bon Secours Memorial School of Nursing. Specializing in the provision of healthcare for women and children, she teaches clinical nursing at the school, with aspirations to publish articles on counseling for new faculty members. Ms. Crowder lends to her position extensive experience in healthcare settings as well as a strong academic background. In fact, she holds a diploma from the Petersburg General Hospital School of Nursing, a master of science in nursing with a minor in education from Virginia Commonwealth University and a bachelor of science in nursing from the same institution. She is also a certified childbirth educator and a certified nurse specialist.

Ms. Crowder is a prominent member of her professional community, maintaining active affiliation with the Virginia Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses and National League for Nursing. She considers the most gratifying aspect of her career to be having the opportunity to further the field of nursing education and credits her success to her supportive parents and husband.
