Dade Medical College Names Elizabeth V. Martinez and Jorge A. Alvarez Vice-Presidents of Community and Government Relations
Martinez and Alvarez will work together to enhance the college's outreach within the local community and with elected officials

MIAMI, FL, June 29, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dade Medical College has named Elizabeth V. Martinez and Jorge A. Alvarez as Vice-Presidents of Government and Community Relations. Martinez and Alvarez will work together to enhance Dade Medical College's outreach in the community and with state and local elected officials.

Martinez will continue to develop strategic initiatives for outreach into the community as well as handling legislative objectives. Alvarez will be working on building a greater community presence and awareness among industry contacts and affiliations. Together, the two hope to further Dade Medical College's community relationships not just on a local level but statewide as well.

"Dade Medical College's presence in the South Florida community is very important. We work day in and day out with our neighbors to provide tools to help them achieve their educational goals," says Alvarez. "Liz and I will work together to make sure that the educational needs of our institution are met."

Martinez was previously Corporate Director of Community Relations at the college. Her background in the hospitality industry offers us a wealth of relationship-building experience and a dedication to making and fostering positive connections. She is a graduate of Florida International University and holds a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature. She previously wrote a column for the Miami New Times, worked as a press manager for Polygram Records and served as Membership Director at Fisher Island Club.

Alvarez previously served as the Dean of the School of Continuing Education. Prior to joining DMC, Alvarez spent 20 years in senior executive positions in the Healthcare administration field. These postings included roles at Neighborhood Health Partnership, JMH Health Plan and Hialeah Hospital. Alvarez earned dual master degrees in business and healthcare administration from the University of Miami. He is currently completing a doctoral program in business management and finance at Nova Southeastern University.
