Dade Medical College to Award 50 Full Associates in Nursing Program Scholarships
Application open to all class of 2011 Miami-Dade County Public School high school graduates

MIAMI, FL, August 20, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dade Medical College is now accepting applications from all Class of 2011 graduates from Miami-Dade County Public Schools to award 50 full Associates in Nursing program scholarships. The 50 scholarships will be awarded to deserving candidates based on their academic performance, community service and supporting letters of recommendation; all must have graduated with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

"The profession of nursing is a noble calling, one that requires extreme dedication, a passion to serve the ill and the resources to study," says Ernesto Perez, Dade Medical College President and CEO. "We are very pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to 50 deserving graduates."

The annual program was founded in coordination with Miami-Dade County Public School Board Member Raquel Regalado. Total combined value of the scholarships is three million dollars and each will cover tuition, uniforms and books. The college and local media partners WSVN Channel 7 and WPOW Power 96 are working together to communicate this initiative to our community.

All applicants will be required to write and submit a 500-word essay on why it is they feel they are deserving of the opportunity to receive the scholarship. A panel of judges will determine the winners and all scholarship recipients must pass the nursing entrance exam.
