Dr. Joseph Romagnuolo Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals

CHARLESTON, SC, May 26, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joseph Romagnuolo, Gastroenterologist, Director of Clinical Research and Associate Professor (full Professor effective July 1, 2011) of Medicine for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in health care.

With 15 years of professional experience, Dr. Romagnuolo has developed an expertise in gastroenterology, and advanced and therapeutic endoscopy. On a daily basis, he sees patients in the clinic as part of his general practice, as well as for advanced endoscopies. A master in performing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasounds (EUS), he teaches residents, fellows, and other gastroenterologists all over the world, and conducts research at the hospital. He is also available to provide second and third opinions for patients with abdominal pain and other GI/pancreas disease, while educating them on the positives and negatives of certain procedures. He lectures internationally.

Having earned an MD at the University of Toronto, Dr. Romagnuolo holds a Master of Science in epidemiology and biostatistics from McGill University. He received a Fellowship designation from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. U.S. Board Certified in gastroenterology, he is a fellow of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the American College of Gastroenterology, among other gastroenterological associations. Dr. Romagnuolo has been honored with awards, such as the ASGE Mid-Career Endoscopic Mentoring Award and the MUSC 2009 Outstanding Educator and Mentor Teaching Excellence Award. He intends to continue publishing and peer-reviewing articles. He also hopes to continue grant success for clinical trials, and continue his committee work advancing quality improvement in endoscopy.
