Dr. Graham Reader serves as special adviser to the President of the University of Windsor
WINDSOR, ON, CANADA, June 9, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Graham T. Reader, Special Adviser to the President of the University of Windsor, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Mechanical Engineering. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
Widely respected in his field, Dr. Reader has distinguished himself for his contributions to power train research and academic administration. After completing his final term as Dean, he has, in his role as Special Advisor, focused his efforts on the advancement and continued development of engineering education and on promoting interest in the University, particularly its Centre for Engineering Innovation.
Dr. Reader previously served as Dean of Engineering, University of Windsor and Department Head of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary. Prior to entering academia he was a Commander in the Royal Navy. He was honoured by the British government with a South Atlantic medal. To date, he has authored more than 300 publications, with many attracting awards, including five books - one in Russian - and has received numerous best paper awards. He attributes the success that he has enjoyed as a serviceman, a professional engineer, and an academic to his education and ability to make the most of the opportunities that are presented to him.
A fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, Dr. Reader holds 2 degrees from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom and was in the first graduating class of the Open University. His affiliations include the SAE, IEEE and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. As he moves forward, Dr. Reader plans to ensure that the Centre for Engineering Innovation contributes significantly to southwest Ontario's economy, creating jobs for the community.
